His first three NBA seasons have been spent in the G-League playing for the Stockton Kings and most recently the Maine Celtics, where he was a key factor in the team's success. However, they lost in the G-League championship to the Oklahoma City Blue.

In Maine last season, Steward averaged 19.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and shot 35.8% from three and 47.5% from the field. Now ending up in Chicago, this is a perfect opportunity for him to potentially get some playing time in the NBA on a two-way deal.
