    Man fatally struck by vehicle on South Side ‘may have been laying on road:’ CPD

    CHICAGO — A man was fatally struck by a vehicle on the city’s South Side, according to Chicago police.

    It happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday in the 11600 block of South Vincennes. Police said a 22-year-old man was traveling in a sedan nortbound on Vincennes when he felt his vehicle strike an object on the road.

    According to police, the man exited his vehicle and found another man on the ground. The victim sustained trauma to the body and was pronounced dead on the scene.

    Police said a preliminary investigation found that the man may have been laying on the road prior to being hit by the vehicle.

    No citations are pending. Area Two Detectives are investigating.
