CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A prayer vigil Sunday focused on a father and his infant son who were both shot in the Little Village neighborhood over the weekend.

A small group prayed together near 26th and Whipple after a 21-year-old man and his 3-month-old son were shot there Saturday afternoon.

“We have to do something about it,” said Baltazar Enriquez with the Little Village Community Council.

He said this type of violence has become all too common and that the neighborhood needs help.

“We’ve been asking for a mental health service since 2019 because our children our traumatized,” Enriquez added.

The 21-year-old man and his three-month-old son remain hospitalized in critical condition.

Enriquez asks anyone with information to come forward.

“This is a three-month-old baby, if you stay quiet, you’re just as guilty as the guy who pulled the trigger,” Enriquez added.
