The Chicago Bulls began a new era when the front office traded for Zach LaVine in 2017. The expectation was to build around LaVine and bring back the glory days to the franchise. However, after seven years in a Bulls jersey, the two-time NBA All-Star has failed to meet the expectations.

As a result, LaVine and the Bulls were expected to part ways this offseason. However, no trade has been finalized despite the organization's best efforts.

In the meantime, many have started criticizing LaVine for his run with the Bulls. An anonymous NBA executive called out the veteran guard in ESPN's latest report .

"He's never won; he's done it his way the whole way and never won," the report stated . "If he's interested in winning, he'll do what's asked of him. And if he's motivated to not be here, one way is to come, be compliant, and be who he is."

LaVine feels burdened with the Bulls' downfall

During the 1990s, Chicago dominated the NBA like no other team, winning six championships under Michael Jordan's leadership. Following the dawn of the MJ era, the Bulls became relevant again when Derrick Rose became a legitimate superstar during the early 2010s.

Many expected a similar outcome for the franchise with LaVine and DeMar DeRozan at the helm. Unfortunately, the Bulls never reached those heights. Now, DeMar has already departed from the team, while Zach is actively searching for a new home.

Amidst the chaotic end of the Bulls' current era, LaVine recently shared his honest views on getting blamed for the team's downfall.

"LaVine has also felt singled out during film sessions and feels like he has taken too much blame for the team's losing during his tenure—which has produced one playoff appearance in seven years—despite other roster failings ," the same ESPN report stated.

    What's next for LaVine?

It's obvious that LaVine's relationship with the Bulls is ruined beyond repair. The best move forward would be to trade the veteran guard. However, there is seemingly no market for the 2015 NBA Slam Dunk contest winner. As of now, he is setto begin the 2024-25 NBA season as a member of the Bulls organization.

Last season, Zach averaged 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. While his numbers were solid, he missed most of the season due to a foot injury and played in just 25 games.

With LaVine set to make $43 million next season, it's hard to imagine any team taking a risk with him, especially with his injury history.
