Could Bears trade veteran running back soon? It sounds like possibility

The Chicago Bears undoubtedly are in a much better spot than they were in a year ago today.

Chicago won seven games last season and seems to be in a position to win a few more in 2024. The Bears had a great offseason and made a flurry of moves and are looking like a completely new deal. The offense especially should be in a good spot after drafting phenom Caleb Williams and landing both D'Andre Swift and Keenan Allen.

The Bears certainly made some positive upgrades but that could also mean that some changes are on the way. Pro Football Network's Anthony DiBona even predicted that running back Khalil Herbert could end up getting traded in the near future.

"Chicago Bears: Khalil Herbert, RB," DiBona said. "Khalil Herbert has impressed when given opportunities throughout his three-year NFL career with the Chicago Bears. He’s averaged 4.9 yards per carry, but the Bears have continued to invest in the RB position in recent years."

Herbert certainly has shown some great promise as a member of the Bears, but Swift is expected to get the majority of the workload out of the backfield and Chicago has some depth at the position. Herbert would be a solid trade piece to a team looking for a starting-caliber running back ahead of Week 1.

Although he has been a solid running back so far throughout his young career in Chicago, Herbert's days could be numbered with the Bears.
