Bears’ DJ Moore Sounds Off On Other Receivers After New Deal

    By Matthew Schmidt,

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore signed a four-year, $110 million contract extension with the team on Wednesday, giving him an average annual value of $27.5 million per year.

That is not even close to Justin Jefferson, who landed $35 million annually from the Minnesota Vikings. It’s below numerous other wide outs who signed extensions this offseason, but while Moore admits he paid attention to all of the deals, he didn’t care too much about resetting the market.

“You’ve got to follow it,” Moore said, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “They’ve all been breaking new heights, going to 35, but I wasn’t really in that mindset to go to the top-top. I was just like, What’s a good number? Let’s go from there.”

The Bears initially acquired Moore in a blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers last offseason. Chicago traded the No. 1 overall pick to the Panthers in the package, landing Moore and the Panthers’ 2024 first-rounder in return.

Of course, that 2024 first-rounder ended up being the top overall selection, and the Bears used it to select quarterback Caleb Williams.

Moore hauled in 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns during his debut campaign in the Windy City last year.

The Bears’ offense could be outstanding in 2024

Thanks to a busy offseason, the Bears’ offense is loaded with weapons heading into 2024.

In addition to drafting Williams, Chicago also traded for Keenan Allen, signed running back D’Andre Swift and tight end Gerald Everett in free agency and took Rome Odunze with the ninth overall pick.

The Bears also have tight end Cole Kmet as a holdover from 2023.

Moore will almost certainly see his targets dip with all of the new acquisitions, so he probably won’t replicate the fantastic numbers he posted last season.

However, Moore will stand a better chance of winning, which trumps everything else.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Maryland, was originally selected by Carolina with the 24th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Moore has logged four 1,000-yard campaigns throughout his NFL career, but has never made a Pro Bowl. he has also never been a member of a team that had a winning record.

That could all change for DJ Moore with the Bears in 2024.
