Cubs Veteran's Perfect Response To His Strange Walk-Off Trend

    By Dave Holcomb,

Chicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman has recorded two walk-off hits over the past two months. They each had one thing in common -- Tauchman's wife, who is pregnant, visited her doctor the same day as both games.

Tauchman, who drove in the winning run with a double during the bottom of the ninth Thursday, shared the odd coincidence with reporters after the game.

"My wife had an OGBYN appointment this morning, and she told me that the last walk-off was also we had an appointment that morning," said Tauchman . "So I'm going to start taking her to the doctor probably a lot."

"Shout out women's health care," Tauchman continued, saying his wife "OK'd" him sharing her story.

"That was like the first message I had from her, so I wanted to put that out there," he said.

The Cubs entered the ninth inning Thursday behind 4-2 against the St. Louis Cardinals. But a solo home run from Cody Bellinger and a Dansby Swanson double three batters later tied the game.

Swanson then scored on Tauchman's double with two outs.

Tauchman's first walk-off after one of his wife's OGBYN appointments came on June 5 against the Chicago White Sox . He hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cubs a 7-6 victory.

The 33-year-old outfielder is hitting .246 with 5 home runs and 20 RBI in 252 at-bats this season.
