USA gymnast Simone Biles has won three gold medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics, all of which came in front of her husband and Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens. Last Monday night and going into the next morning, Owens made a trip from Chicago to Paris after receiving permission to go during the Bears' training camp.
During his time in Paris, Owens witnessed Biles winning gold in the team final along with her teammates Jade Carey, Suni Lee, and Jordan Chiles. He also got to see his wife win the all-around individual final and the vault final.
Owens is back in the USA, and in a recent Instagram post, he provided an update regarding his NFL career with a photo of him back at training camp.
"Back at it," Owens captioned the post with a football emoji.
The Bears officially started training camp on July 20. While Owens was away, Chicago faced the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame game, the first match of the NFL preseason. The game was ultimately canceled in the third quarter due to weather.
In the team final, Biles and the rest of Team USA secured a total score of 171.296, with Biles scoring the most points for her team. In the all-around individual, Biles recorded a final score of 59.131, just beating out Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade.
In the vault final, Biles earned a score of 15.300, once again beating out Andrade for gold. The only two events Owens will not get to see his wife compete in are the balance beam and floor finals.
