Bears Pro-Bowl WR likely won't return in 2025: 'One-and-done situation'

The Chicago Bears have gathered a ton of wideout weapons around Caleb Williams, but one of their stud receivers is unlikely to stay with the team past this season.

Chicago enters the 2024 campaign with a star-studded receiving corps. DJ Moore just signed an extension, and the Bears acquired Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze this offseason, the latter with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Chicago acquired Allen in March through a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers. The 32-year-old is an immense talent, having been named a Pro Bowler six times and NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2017.

The Bears should take advantage of Allen's services while they still have him, as it appears that his stay in Chicago likely won't be longer than one season.

Prominent Chicago sports podcaster Haize took to the airwaves this week and outlined why Allen is probably going to be a one-and-done player for the Bears.

"Some people have asked after the DJ Moore extension, will the Bears look to extend Keenan Allen?" Haize said. "I don't think so. I think Keenan Allen was always meant to be a one-and-done situation ... Via the money that Keenan Allen's probably going to want ... he already didn't want to take a pay cut to stay with the Chargers ... I think all those things point to Keenan Allen's time with the Bears being short."

"It allows for one season of Rome Odunze to kind of acclimate ... I just don't expect Keenan Allen to sign a contract extension with the Chicago Bears."

Haize pointed out that Bears general manager Ryan Poles has already come out in the media and asserted that Chicago will not be discussing an extension with Allen before the season.

Haize also explored the possibility that Chicago could think about extending Allen if the Bears have a surprisingly good season that includes playoff victories.

Regardless of Allen's future in Chicago, 2024 is going to be an exciting season for Bears fans everywhere.
