A former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman who didn't see any action as an NFL rookie last year appears poised to earn a 53-man roster spot this fall.

Former Vols offensive lineman Jerome Carvin landed with the Chicago Bears this past offseason after a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs last season.

Carvin was signed by the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent shortly after the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Memphis native was then waived by the Chiefs with an injury settlement just before the start of the 2023 season.

Former Tennessee Vols OL Jerome Carvin receiving significant amount of reps during Chicago Bears training camp

Carvin, who played in 60 career games for the Vols, has been receiving a significant amount of reps during Bears training camp.

The former Tennessee standout started at center for the Bears in the Hall of Fame game against the Houston Texans last week.

Carvin recovered a key fumble for the Bears at one point during the matchup against the Texans.

Carvin has also seen time at guard for the Bears during training camp, receiving some first team reps at times when starting guards Nate Davis and Teven Jenkins were sitting around team drills.

Carvin has a ton of SEC experience, which makes him an attractive player for any NFL team. And he's obviously familiar with Bears starting right tackle Darnell Wright, his former teammate at Tennessee.

As long as Carvin stays healthy, he seems like a good bet to make Chicago's 53-man roster as a depth option. There's still a month of preseason action left to go, but the former Vol appears to be in a good spot with the Bears.
