Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese have built one of the biggest rivalries in women's basketball. It started back in the 2023 NCAAW national championship between the Iowa Hawkeyes and LSU Tigers, where Reese took the title in dramatic fashion.

The rivalry has continued into the WNBA, and the three games between the Fever and Sky this season have been some of the more fun matches to watch. However, Flau'jae Johnson, who played with Reese for two seasons at LSU, believes the media has unnecessarily pitted the two against each other for a "lame" reason.

In a recent interview on " The Bootleg Kev Podcast ," Johnson discussed the truth behind the rivalry between Clark and Reese.

"I think it's more so the fans that be coming up with stories and making stuff up in their head," Johnson said. "They really think we all hate each other, and that's not the case like that's far from it. I'm a fan of both Angel and Caitlin."

Johnson has made her relationships with both Clark and Reese known to the public. At the WNBA All-Star game, Johnson was in attendance and had friendly interactions with both players.

"Everybody thinks it was such a big rivalry when it wasn't," Johnson added. "It was really the media that was making it what it was. Then the fans go and they try to make it a white-black thing, which is lame. But it was never like that. It was the media."

Since the 2023 national championship, Clark and Reese have faced each other four times. Clark exacted her revenge by winning the three games following her title loss, but Reese won the most recent battle.

The two stars teamed up for the first time in the 2024 WNBA All-Star game, where they led Team WNBA to an upset win over Team USA. Both rookies broke All-Star game records. Clark recorded the most assists ever by a rookie in a WNBA All-Star game, while Reese became the first rookie to record a double-double in the same match.

Johnson is entering her third season with LSU. In 2023-24, she averaged 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
