White Sox Manager’s Immediate Reaction After Ending 21-Game Losing Streak

It finally happened. After 21 straight losses , the Chicago White Sox got a victory.
On Tuesday night, the White Sox defeated the Oakland Athletics, 5-1, marking their first win since July 10, nearly one month ago.
After the game, White Sox manager Pedro Grifol had a lot to say and admitted the feeling of finally getting the victory (h/t Sam Blum of The Athletic).
“Any time you win, it’s great,” Grifol said. “Any time you win when you lose 21 in a row, it’s even better. I’m proud of these guys. They care. They care for each other. It was cool to watch for nine innings, these guys pull for each other."
It was a long time in coming. The White Sox were two losses shy of the MLB record losing streak of 23 set by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1961.
Jonathan Cannon threw six innings and gave up just one run on six hits while earning the win for the White Sox. He opened up on what it meant to finally get the win, even calling it "bittersweet" (h/t Sam Blum).
“It’s just a sigh of relief,” Cannon said. “It’s bittersweet. It’s nice that it’s over, but it sucks that we’ve gotten to that point.”
The White Sox have a record of 28-88, which is by far the worst in the MLB. But, at long last, they can celebrate a win.
