"Results were not there": White Sox dismiss manager after dreadful skid

The Chicago White Sox have had a miserable season to date. They own a record of 28-89, which is the worst in Major League Baseball.

They also recently suffered through a 21-game losing skid, which tied the 1988 Baltimore Orioles for the longest in American League history.

And so, their struggles finally forced some change. In a statement on Twitter, the White Sox announced that manager Pedro Grifol had been dismissed.

"Despite the on-field struggles and lack of success, we appreciate the effort and professionalism Pedro and the staff brought to the ballpark every day," said General Manager Chris Getz. "These two seasons have been very challenging. Unfortunately, the results were not there, and a change is necessary as we look to our future and the development of a new energy around the team."

It was only a matter of time before the White Sox made a change. Grifol being fired might just be the first domino to fall.

Grifol was hired after the 2022 season to replace Tony La Russa. Ultimately, it did not work out.

The White Sox have been in freefall mode ever since their run to an AL Central title in 2021. They finished .500 the following season and are on track to record yet another 100-plus loss season.

The organization has made several mistakes over the past few seasons, and it ultimately led them to where they are now. The future doesn't appear to be bright on the South Side of Chicago.

Over the past two seasons, Grifol has led the White Sox to an 89-190 record.
