‘Give Me Shelter’ art show and sale
Sheltering homeless women, men, and children on the Vineyard requires creative financing at all times. Harbor Homes knows. Programs from its winter overnight shelter to the MV Cares Outreach Coalition are seeing a surge in demand for supportive services, according to Jennifer Frank, Harbor Homes board chair. (Thirty-two new people sought shelter from Harbor Homes last winter.) This two-day exhibit, the organization’s fourth annual “Give Me Shelter” show, takes the idea of creative financing to the bank. “We hope this art show helps us raise much-needed funds so the work of Harbor Homes can continue, but we also hope this event raises awareness of the very real issue of homelessness here in our community,” Frank said.

Storms ahead of humidity drop
A FEW STORMS TODAY Areas of fog will last through 9 AM this morning. Plan on mostly cloudy and mostly dry weather again today. It will be warmer than yesterday with highs in the lower and almost tropical humidity. A cold front will move across the region today, triggering a few afternoon downpours or thunderstorms. Showers chances will peak from 2-6 PM and will tend to be focused in eastern and southeastern MA (including the Boston area) with drier conditions in northwestern MA and southern NH. FRIDAY & THE WEEKEND Skies will clear tonight following the front. Dew points will also drop form the lower 70s to the upper 50s - that means a big drop in humidity! Enjoy the comfortable, bright weather Friday. Highs will peak in the lower to mid 80s in Boston to Worcester, with 70s on Cape Cod.
