Eveleth apartment house incurs fire, smoke damage
EVELETH—A vacant apartment house was damaged by smoke and fire in a Monday night blaze that was reported at 9:30 p.m., according to the Friends of the Northland FireWire. Crews from Eveleth, Fayal Township, Gilbert, Virginia, and Mountain Iron were dispatched to the 500 block of Adams Avenue, where heavy smoke was seen coming from the large structure. The Clinton, Lakeland, Biwabik Township and City of Biwabik departments were also paged. After extensive interior and exterior fire attacks, firefighters were able to keep the blaze contained to the interior of the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Eveleth Ambulance Service provided medical standby at the scene while the Eveleth Police Department and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department assisted in traffic control.
Women Empow(HER) camps allow young women to try out the trades
Earlier in June, Women Empower(her) camps took place at Minnesota North, Hibbing and Eveleth college campuses.
