On June 12, at around 11:30 p.m., deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop, after observing a vehicle equipment violation on US Highway 17 South near the High Water Social in Chocowinity.

After stopping the vehicle, deputies identified the driver as Anthony Osbourne Goff of Aurora.  Deputies observed illegal contraband inside the vehicle while speaking with Goff.  Deputies requested Goff to exit the vehicle while they performed a probable cause search.  Goff began actively resisting the deputies once he was outside of the vehicle and was taken into custody.

As a result of the evidence gathered during traffic stop, 31-year-old Anthony Osbourne Goff of Aurora, was charged with Felony Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Resist Delay Obstruct, Misdemeanor Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Carrying Concealed Weapon. Goff was issued citations for Possessing an Open Container in the Passenger Area of a Motor Vehicle, and for Vehicle Lighting Violation.

Osbourne was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under an $8,000 secured bond.
