RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Dyslexia is a common learning disorder affecting many students in both Rutherford County Schools and the Murfreesboro City School System. According to the Center for Dyslexia at MTSU, at least 100,000 students in grades K-12 statewide have dyslexia. Nationally, the National Institutes of Health estimate that 15% of the population may be dyslexic. Characteristics of dyslexia include confusion of visually or phonetically similar letters, and difficulties with sequencing and monitoring sounds in reading and spelling.
