North Greene Announces New AD, HS Girls Head Basketball Coach
The North Greene Athletic Department has announced the hiring of two individuals today. Anthony Willeford has been hired as the new Athletic Director for the district. Willeford takes over for McKea Jones who resigned last month for a new job in the Bluffs School District. Willeford was a 2010 graduate of North Greene High School and was a multi-sport standout. Willeford graduated from MacMurray College before spending 7 years in the United States Air Force before returning to the district. Willeford will also be taking on the duties of Restorative Discipline Director.
Greeneville high school football aims high with fresh faces and seasoned leaders
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WCYB) — High school football has officially returned. Monday was the first day of practice for teams around Northeast Tennessee. The last team standing a year ago, Greeneville fell one game short of the championship game. Four to be inducted to Tusculum Sports Hall of Fame
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — The 2024 Tusculum University Sports Hall of Fame class has been announced and four new members will be inducted later this fall. This year’s honorees will be inducted during Sports Hall of Fame Weekend festivities on Saturday, October 26th. This year’s class includes: football All-American Justin Houston; former head baseball coach and athletic director Doug Jones; women’s tennis All-American and Academic All-American Annie McCullough; and men’s basketball standout Dante Owens.

David Crockett football team regroups with young talent
In 2023, the David Crockett football team had a challenging season. The Pioneers missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014, having won only three games last season. However, the team looks very different this season. Head coach Hayden Chandley anticipates that several sophomores will have significant playing time. The team has been busy during this acclimation period, installing new schemes. Coach Chandley expects his team to hit the ground running when they put on full pads next week.

Jenna Biggins has been promoted to the position of assistant athletic director for internal operations at Tusculum University announced Josh Ealy, Vice President of Athletics. Biggins is responsible for the day-to-day, internal operations of the athletic department, which includes management and supervision of all budget activity for the University’s 23 intercollegiate sports including team travel, supplies and recruiting expenditures.
