Indiana Suburb Just Named One of the 10 Best in America
One Indiana city just received some very high honors. Do you think you know which one it is?. I am proud to be a native of Indiana. I've lived here my whole life and while I wish we were closer to places like the beach, we still have a lot of great things to offer for a "flyover state". Indiana is full of many small towns with a great deal of charm. We also are home to a few big cities that have a lot to offer residents. Recently, one of these Indiana towns was named one of the top suburbs to live in the country. While it's not my hometown, I think it is a pretty big accolade for the state.

Westfield veteran calls for change to property tax law
A Westfield veteran has started a grassroots campaign to lobby elected leaders at the state level to increase the property tax deduction for veterans in Indiana. Mike Madigan served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. An Illinois native who lived in Wisconsin before moving to Indiana in 2020, Madigan said when he moved to Westfield, he was surprised to find the property tax exemption in the Hoosier State is far different from what was available in Wisconsin.
Westfield increases road impact fees for developers
The City of Westfield has adopted a public works policy change to address the effect of the city’s rapid development on local roads. Johnathon Nail, director of public works for Westfield, said the zone improvement plan is an amendment to the city’s comprehensive plan specifically related to road impact fees.
Opioid settlement fund fuels anti-addiction battle in Indiana
Indiana is stepping up its fight against addiction with a boost from an opioid settlement fund. The money comes from a $54 billion 2021 Opioid Settlement Fund created by manufacturers, distributors and retailers to address their role in the nation’s opioid epidemic. Indiana will receive $508 million from the fund over the next several years.

Commission on veterans, military families launched – The City of Carmel has launched the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Veterans and Military Families, an initiative dedicated to addressing the unique needs and challenges faced by veterans and military families within the community. City Councilor Matthew Snyder will serve as chairperson of this commission, a volunteer body composed of up to nine members, appointed by Mayor Sue Finkam. Members were chosen from a diverse cross-section of the armed services veteran residents and business owners of Carmel.
