Kings Island’s Soak City Water Park is getting a makeover.

On Monday, the Mason amusement park announced that it will debut RiverRacers, the first and only dual-racing water coaster in Ohio, in 2025. Additionally, hundreds of new loungers and chairs will be featured around the new area. Seven new water slides will also be installed in Splash River Junction, a riverside-themed play area for kids.

According to a press release, individuals will board RiverRacers side-by-side and be launched down the firstdrop at up to 30 mph. Water jets will drench and propel riders upward before mirroring split turns and entering an enclosed tunnel with special lighting effects. The ride will then finish by whipping riders 180 degrees into a "gravity-defying final mega drop," per the release.

For younger guests, Splash River Junction will soon feature Salamander Sliders, seven new water slides offering a variety of gentle slopes, dips, and turns. Bluegill Lagoon will also be redesigned to resemble an "ol’ fashioned swimmin’ hole," complete with a water tower.

According to Mason's records, the project is expected to cost about $4.5 million, The Enquirer reported on Aug. 1.

King's Island's last major change or addition was the opening of its Camp Snoopy district t his year.
