It's time to chill out, Ohio . We have some of the least-relaxed cities in the United States, including three in the bottom 10.

A report from LawnStarter ranked 2024’s most relaxed cities, evaluating the housing affordability, the average length of a workday, depression rates, and access to mental health providers from 500 U.S. cities.

Spoiler: Ohio didn't land in the Top 50, or even the Top 300 of the country's relaxed cities.

About 34% of adults report feeling that stress is overwhelming for them on most days, according to a June Forbes article. Constant stress can contribute to burnout, health issues, and anxiety. Common side effects of stress are known to impact your body, your mood, and your behavior, according to the Mayo Clinic .

With all of the seven Ohio cities fell on the bottom half of the list, you could say that the Buckeye State needs to learn how to chill out and relax. Here's where Columbus, Cincinnati, Akron, Cleveland and other Ohio cities ranked on LawnStarter's most relaxed list. (Spoiler alert: not very high).

Columbus ranks No. 336 on the list of 500 most-relaxed cities

Columbus was ranked highest out of all the Ohio cities listed, landing at No. 336.

It's far from the most laid-back city, with social stress and mental well-being among the top stressors. If you need to release some pent-up stress and frustration, Columbus will have its first "rage room" experience open to locals in October.

Parma lands at No. 348 overall

Parma ranked No. 348 out of the 500 relaxed cities.

Environmental stressors are high in the Cleveland suburb, according to the study. The National Library of Medicine notes that environmental stressors like air pollution, noise pollution, and chemical exposure can impact health by increasing the risk of chronic diseases and mortality. The city did score highly within the social stressors category at No. 56, which centers on relationships and social environments.

Cincinnati is No. 409 among the 500 most-relaxed cities in the US

While Cincinnati has some of the best recreation options, according to the study, it maintained a rank of No. 409.

Physical well-being was ranked the lowest out of the individual categories (No. 482), with mental well-being not ranked that much higher (No. 416). The good news is that there are still a few more weeks of summer left; the sunny season has been reported to enhance your mood .

    Akron ranks No. 480

Akron landed at No. 480, which is among the least-relaxed cities in the country .

Social stressors and mental and physical well-being were among the city's top sources of stress, according to the study. However, Akron locals can take their mind off things with delicious food spots and access to world-class theme parks .

Toledo the best of three Ohio cities among the 10 least-relaxed cities in the U.S.

Toledo is one of three Ohio cities that scrape the bottom of the list of relaxed cities, coming in at No. 494.

Mental, physical, and financial well-being were the top stressors out of the city's individual rankings. Toledo's affordability , however, is considered among the best in the country.

    Cleveland is No. 497 overall

Just a few spots away from being the least relaxed city, Cleveland was ranked No. 497 by the study.

Financial well-being was found to be the top stressor, followed closely by physical well-being and social stressors, with Cleveland's rankings in all three categories being 485 or lower. The city did score favorably for recreation options at No. 79, out of the 500 cities evaluated.

At. No. 498, Dayton is Ohio's least-relaxed city and one of the worst in the country

Dayton is last out of the Ohio cities listed, and one of the last overall at No. 498. Only Detroit and Flint, Michigan, are worse. The study says that people in Dayton had reported the highest mental distress and high rates of drug overdose deaths.

    Study methodology

LawnStarter calculated scores out of 100 points for each city, which was used to determine its rank in each factor, category, and overall.

The highest Overall Score was ranked the most relaxed (at No. 1) by the study, and the lowest least relaxed was ranked No. 500.

For the 500 cities, the overall score was the average of its scores across all factors and categories.
