Jaylen Harrell, a four-star prospect in the Class of 2025, included Xavier in his final six choices along with Alabama, Kansas, Providence, Rutgers and Virginia Tech.

Ultimately, though, Harrell opted to join Kim English's Providence Friars, he announced in a live commitment video Monday night on YouTube. Providence is just over 40 miles south of Cambridge Arts, Technology and Science (CATS) in Braintree, Mass., where Harrell is the state's top-ranked player in his class, per 247Sports, and was Gatorade Player of the Year in 2023.

Harrell visited Xavier in May and was originally scheduled to make a college decision on May 27. He then postponed his commitment until Monday. Harrell plays AAU basketball for Expressions Elite, the same program former Musketeer Desmond Claude played for during his prep career.

Roddie Anderson III will redshirt in 2024-25

The final piece of Xavier's 2024-25 roster will be one a part of the Musketeers' future beyond next season.

In a video posted on social media Monday, Xavier head coach Sean Miller said Roddie Anderson, a Boise State transfer, will redshirt this season.

"This next season for us, with Roddie, is a year of development. He's gonna redshirt," Miller said "We're thrilled to have him a part of everything that we do. I have no doubt in the next nine, 10, 11 months, that he's gonna improve dramatically."

Anderson filled Xavier's final scholarship spot on the 2024-25 roster when he committed in May as the seventh and final addition by the Musketeers through the transfer portal.

Anderson started 54 of 63 games over the last two seasons as UC-San Diego in 2022 and Boise State last year. With the Broncos, Anderson averaged 6.5 points, 3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in helping lead the program to a 22-win season and an NCAA Tournament appearance. He shot 36.4% from the field.

Dailyn Swain cleared for all basketball activities

Xavier sophomore Dailyn Swain, who missed the final two weeks of last season after needing an appendectomy in early March, has been cleared for all basketball-related activities, per Jon Rothstein.

On Monday's episode of The Sean Miller Podcast, which featured Swain and Trey Green, Miller said that Swain had put on "almost 40 pounds" since when he arrived on campus last summer.

Swain was one of the many freshmen thrust into key roles last season due to injuries. In 29 games, the Columbus native and former four-star recruit averaged 4.6 points and 3 rebounds per game while shooting 45.9% from the field.
