Strong storms and winds are expected to hit the Tristate this week in the wake of Hurricane Beryl, which made landfall early Monday morning near Matagorda Beach on the Gulf Coast of Texas.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, dry weather and warm temperatures will persist across the area on Monday. Highs will be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s.

However, the next chance for precipitation will occur late Monday night into Tuesday as remnants of Hurricane Beryl track northeast across the region.

When it hit the Texas coast, Beryl had maximum sustained winds of 80 mph and was labeled a Category 1 hurricane. The National Hurricane Center anticipates Beryl will weaken to a tropical depression while traveling northeast through Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri, the Louisville Courier-Journal reports.

Remnants of the storm are expected to approach the Ohio Valley region by Tuesday night. Rain will likely arrive from the southwest on Tuesday night and overspread northeast. Rain chances will peak on Wednesday and drop off Wednesday night into Thursday.

The NWS states that flood concerns remain on the lower side. Dry conditions will return by Friday, increasing heat and humidity heading into the weekend. Forecast highs will return to the upper 80s and low 90s by Saturday.

Afternoon rain chances may also increase this weekend.

How likely is Beryl's arrival in Cincinnati?

According to USA TODAY's storm tracker's cone, Cincinnati is in the projected path of Beryl, which is expected to weaken to a depression by the time it reaches the area.

How much rain could Cincinnati get on Tuesday?

There is a 30% chance of precipitation during the day and an 80% of precipitation overnight Tuesday. Thunderstorms are possible throughout the day.
