    Cincinnati Reds outfielder Rece Hinds.

Cincinnati Reds' exciting young slugger, Rece Hinds, etched his name in the MLB record books, homering twice against the Miami Marlins on Saturday.

After smashing a 430-foot home run off starter Edward Cabrera in the third inning, Hinds took reliever Andrew Nardi deep in the sixth for another round-tripper, which went even farther, traveling 454 feet. The pair of long balls gave the 23-year-old nine extra-base on the year, the most by a player in their first six career games since 1901.

The last rookie to have at least eight extra-base hits over the same stretch came all the way back in 1901. Two years before the first World Series took place, Emmet Heidrick registered two doubles, four triples and two home runs over his first six career games with the St. Louis Cardinals, per Stathead .

Meanwhile, Hinds' five home runs are the second-most by a player in their first six major league games. In 2016, Trevor Story, then with the Colorado Rockies, hit seven in six games.

Hinds' remarkable achievement came less than 24 hours after another incredible feat.

On Friday, he finished 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk in a 7-4 Reds victory over the Marlins. Per OptaStats , that helped Hinds become the first player since late Hall of Famer Willie Mays (1958) to record at least nine hits, seven extra-base hits, three home runs, two stolen bases, a triple and a grand slam over five days.

A second-round pick of the Reds in the 2019 MLB Draft, Hinds posted 13 home runs and 41 RBI with the Triple-A Louisville Bats, earning a call-up to the majors. Following Saturday's outing, he's posted 11 hits, 11 RBI, five home runs, three doubles and a triple over 22 at-bats
