Mike Moroski has left the Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education.

Moroski submitted his resignation from the board during Monday's meeting, effective Monday night. He shared his comments in an X post shortly after the meeting.

He said it was a difficult decision and he has been considering it for some time, but it is the right decision for him and his family.

"I have dedicated my life to trying to do good in the community with no real expectation of my efforts actually changing anything for the better," he said. "I am not an optimistic person in the sense that I do not do the things I do with any expectation of them working or making a difference. But I am a hopeful person and I believe that trying is important and can resonate in a way that can make things better."

Moroski has been a board member since 2018. His term was set to expire at the end of 2025.

According to his biography on the district's website, he works as the executive director of the Human Services Chamber of Hamilton County. He also served as the district's appointee to the Cincinnati Recreation Commission where he holds the position as vice president. He also served as the school board's policy and equity committee chairman.

Moroski noted in his comments during the board meeting that he won't go too far away from Cincinnati Public Schools, as his position with the Human Services Chamber will allow him to continue to spur change for families within the district.

"So I will still be working with you all to help you move our community forward – albeit from down there at the podium," he said.

    This report will be updated.
