Rhinegeist is throwing a party to celebrate the one-year anniversary of its beer that’s been helping Cincinnati student-athletes.

Last summer, the Over-the-Rhine brewery teamed up with name, image and likeness (NIL) organization Cincy Reigns to create the Cincy Light lager. Cincy Reigns is a NIL fundraising collective that helps student-athletes at the University of Cincinnati monetize their personal brands and supports philanthropic initiatives across Greater Cincinnati.

“We’re incredibly proud of the success of Cincy Light in its first year,” Rhinegeist CEO Adam Bankovich said in a press release. “This beer was brewed to celebrate Cincinnati, and this anniversary party is a chance to raise a toast to our amazing community.”

Since its inception, a portion of all Cincy Light sales have gone to support these student-athletes.

“It's been a great ride being part of Cincy Light's first year and watching the impact on Cincy Reigns, Bearcat Athletics and the Queen City as a whole” Brian Fox, chairman of Cincy Reigns, said in the release. “Through our partnership with Rhinegeist, we've been proud to deliver a celebrated product that our community has embraced, and we can't wait to see what year two brings for all of us!”

The anniversary party is happening Friday, July 19th from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Rhinegeist taproom. It’s free and family-friendly.

Events include a live radio broadcast with Cincy 360’s Tony Pike and special guests like Dan Hoard from noon to 3 p.m.; the chance to play in a live tournament against your favorite Bearcat with the official release of "NCAA Football 25" from EA Sports; and performances from UC’s band and cheerleading squad. The party will also have plenty of food from local favorites and games and activities for all ages.
