Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase Turning Heads With Offseason Workouts

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has reportedly been working out and training with renowned skills coach David Robinson . Chase looks faster and more powerful in and out of breaks than in seasons past, while his elite pass-catching skills have also been on full display in his workouts.

Chase is eligible for a long-term extension, and the Bengals would be crazy not to give one to their clear No. 1 wideout and offensive threat.

In three seasons, Chase has racked up 268 receptions, 3,717 yards, 29 touchdowns and an average of 13.9 yards per catch. Since day one, he has been one of the best receivers in the entire NFL .

He came in third at his position in an ESPN poll of NFL executives, scouts and coaches. In those rankings, ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler spoke on Chase’s development and overall skill set.

“Chase occupies a mystifying space in the receiver pantheon; not many players scare defensive coordinators more than Chase, who can break a big play at any time. But he hasn't followed up his stellar rookie performance with a signature season, which both receivers ahead of him have. He got more No. 1 consideration last year than in 2024, when Hill overtook him. He's still clearly in Tier 1, with a big drop-off in voting after the top three.”

One veteran NFL coordinator said, “he’s still the best vertical threat and yards-after-catch player.”

It feels like the Bengals are flying under the radar in the discussion of Super Bowl contenders amid all the drama with wide receiver Tee Higgins and the fact that quarterback Joe Burrow is coming off a season-ending injury.

Nonetheless, they are returning many key players, Burrow has shown he is fully healthy and Higgins has signed the franchise tag. The team has improved in many facets and remains a serious threat in the AFC with Chase headlining.
