LeSean McCoy's Encouraging Thoughts About Joe Burrow

    By Cole Sullivan,

Former NFL running back LeSean McCoy was on FS1’s “Speak” discussing Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow , and after years of McCoy being somewhat wary and controversial when talking about Burrow, he had a change of nature in his response on whether or not 2024 was a “make or break” year for the former Comeback Player of the Year.

“Not for Joe Burrow. He’s that good. He’s that great. And he’s that young. He’s only 27 years old,” McCoy said. “When he’s at his best, he’s healthy; we know his ceiling; we don’t need to see it now. We know eventually that it’s going to show up.” McCoy said.

Burrow has proven to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when he’s on the field, and his numbers support that. In 2021, on his way to the Super Bowl, he threw for 4,611 yards, 34 touchdowns, and had a 108.3 passer rating.

The following season, in 2022, he stayed just as consistent, racking up 4,475 yards, 35 touchdowns, and a 100.8 passer rating on a trip to the AFC Championship.

His health is a drastic concern, and Burrow would be the first to tell you the importance of him being on the field.

"I've always prided myself on my mental toughness, to be able to push through pain and push through those injuries," Burrow said at a news conference at the end of minicamp in June. "That has kind of been my growth this offseason—taking a step back and understanding my value to the organization and the team."

The Cincinnati Bengals kick off the season against the New England Patriots on September 8th with the hopes of getting back to the postseason and working towards their Super Bowl aspirations.
