CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – One of the busiest travel corridors for those living in and around the Queen City is up for a discussion on improvements this week.

On Tuesday night the North Carolina Department of Public Transportation is set to discuss improvements for Independence Blvd. during a public, drop-in style meeting to be held from 4-7 p.m. at East Meck High School. The discussion will include the entire length of the Blvd., all the way from I-277 in Uptown to 485 in Matthews.

Construction in the area of Independence by I-277 has been ongoing for months, and recently paved parts of 277 have affected Independence traffic.

Bus lanes are also being developed on Independence, however, have not been put into official use yet.
