Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow arrived at training camp on Tuesday sporting a shocking new look .

The buzzed cut bleached blonde hair instantly drew comparisons to rapper Eminem. While the similarities between the two are certainly legitimate, fans of professional wrestling drew a different comparison - WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

It didn't' take long for Rhodes himself to take notice. Rhodes edited the picture of Burrow's new look on X (Twitter), giving Burrow Rhodes' famous neck tattoo and putting the WWE Championship belt over Burrow's shoulder. Rhodes captioned the picture with a message to Burrow that it's "time to finish your story this season."

For the non-wrestling fans out there, "finish the story" was the rallying cry for Rhodes throughout his journey to becoming WWE Champion. It's also a tribute to his father, Dusty Rhodes, who never won the belt despite having a Hall of Fame career. Cody Rhodes faced many obstacles throughout his 17-year wrestling career before finally winning the WWE championship this past April at WrestleMania 40.

Like Rhodes had for so long, Burrow has come close but just short to championship glory. Burrow reached the Super Bowl in the 2021 season but lost a heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Rams. The following year he and the Bengals made it to the AFC Championship Game but lost another nailbiter, this time to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In 2023 Burrow's year was cut short after 10 games as he suffered a season-ending wrist injury. Burrow is undoubtably one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but fair or not, some are beginning to question whether or not he has what it takes to win a Super Bowl.

Rhodes faced those same criticisms early in his career. Obviously, wrestling is a scripted show, but WWE typically will not put their top championship belt on someone who can't meet the standards of consistently performing at a high level and representing the company professionally.

Rhodes worked hard to debunk those criticisms and has become the face of the WWE. It remains to be seen if Burrow can do the same, but at just 27 years old he should have plenty more opportunities as long as he stays healthy. Perhaps Rhodes, and the new hairstyle, will prove to be a good luck charm for Burrow in 2024.
