An Olympic medalist is putting Cincinnati on the map.

Carson Foster , a Sycamore High School grad who swam for Mason Manta Rays, won a bronze medal Sunday at the Paris Olympics for his time in the men's 400-meter individual medley. In an interview after the race, Foster said, "It's for all of Cincinnati.

Foster added that his Cincinnati upbringing shaped who he is today. He also thanked his community, former coaches and high school for getting him to the coveted Olympic podium.

"I love Cincinnati. It's home. I'm so grateful for everyone supporting me," Foster said, according to News 5 (WLWT-TV) anchor Charlie Clifford.

Foster, a University of Texas Longhorns record holder in the 400 IM, also qualified to swim for Team USA in the men's 200-meter IM, scheduled for Thursday, August 1. Foster's Texas teammate, Shaine Casas, qualified for the 200 IM as well.

The 22-year-old is swimming in the Olympics for the first time. He won the 400-meter IM at the U.S. trials in June after competing at U.S. Olympic trials in 2016 and 2020 but not qualifying.
