Hi. I’m Randy Tucker , business writer at The Enquirer.
Imagine a marijuana dispensary opening next door to your home or business. Would you welcome the cannabis store to the neighborhood with a live-and-let-live attitude toward responsible cannabis users and sellers? Or, would you " just say no "?
Residents and business owners in the heart of downtown Cincinnati are facing the dilemma for the first time since Ohio voted to legalize marijuana for medical use in 2016. Two dispensaries have obtained provisional licenses to open in the same block as the downtown Starbucks . One would be located directly underneath a condo development, where residents have expressed concerns about the dispensaries’ impact on minors living in the building.

Meanwhile, nearby business owners fret that the dispensaries could drive customers away by attracting an unsavory element and crime. Concerned residents have asked state regulators and city officials to intervene. But officials say as long as the dispensaries play by the rules , efforts to stop the dispensaries from opening are “doobie-ous” at best.
