For the first time in the Zac Taylor era, the Cincinnati Bengals will have a new offensive coordinator this season.

Brian Callahan left Cincinnati to become the head coach of the Tennessee Titans this offseason, leaving the team to promote from within and elevate someone who had been with the franchise even longer than Taylor has.

Dan Pitcher will be entering his ninth season on the Bengals' staff, but this year will have the title of offensive coordinator for the first time. Taylor was asked about Pitcher by Kay Adams of Up and Adams and was extremely complimentary towards his new offensive coordinator.

"Tremendous personality, tremendous energy, incredibly smart, much smarter than me. That's where I'm fortunate is I've got a lot of coaches on the staff that make me look good," Taylor said with a laugh . "They know what the heck they're doing and they put people in the right position and they give me great guidance, so you just gotta continue to empower guys like Dan Pitcher to do their job and he's tremendous. The whole world will know who he is because of the job that he does and will continue to do. His personality, the way he effects other coaches and player and effects our team. He'll be a head coach sooner rather than later and we'll have to prepare for life after him."

Pitcher has been in Cincinnati since 2016 as an offensive assistant before being promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach in 2019 then spending the last four years as the quarterbacks coach before his latest promotion this offseason.

He was the most fitting man for the job, and signs point to him being able to continue the level of success on offense that the team has become accustomed to.
