The Cincinnati Bengals 2023 season was derailed largely due to the fact that their franchise quarterback suffered a season-ending wrist injury.

While Burrow's health and inability to be on the field down the stretch likely cost the team a playoff appearance, it also may serve to give him an advantage in this upcoming season.

Burrow was asked about returning from his injury by Kay Adams of Up and Adams and remarked that he believes the head start on the offseason gives him somewhat of a leg up over his competition.

"You kinda go through a dark time there for a little bit (after an injury) when you watch your guys go out there and play without you, but it really gave me the opportunity, like it always does if you get hurt, to get started on my offseason early," Burrow said . "I think I really have a leg up on everybody this year, I had 10-12 extra weeks of offseason which I think has really paid off body wise...I think I've proven enough in this league whether people choose to believe that or not, so I'm not really externally motivated at this point, I'm more intrinsically motivated."

Earlier in the offseason, Burrow said he feels he has been a bit forgotten as to how good he really is due to the fact that he was not on the field. In 2024, he is motivated to stay on the field and perform at the level he knows he is capable of.

Perhaps the extra period of offseason for him last year will only serve to make him a better quarterback this year.
