The Miami Marlins hope to get something going offensively as they take on the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night for Game Three of their four-game series. Miami has lost back-to-back games in which the offense doesn’t score more than four runs. Last night, they only managed two runs on four hits

The Reds have been playing a bit better recently. They are just three games under .500 with a 55-58 record. There is still lots of catching up to do for them in the National League wild-card race.

As for pitching matchups, southpaw pitcher Andrew Abbott (9-8, 3.41 ERA) takes the mound for Cincinnati. Abbott is coming off a loss in his recent outing against the San Francisco Giants on Aug. 2. He went four and a third innings allowing two runs on seven hits. That was the second consecutive start in which he failed to make it to the fifth inning.

Abbott will go up against Marlins right-hander Valente Bellozo (0-1, 4.20 ERA), who will make his fourth start of the season. He has pitched 15 2/3 innings with 15 strikeouts. He had a solid start in his recent outing on Aug. 2, in which he gave up two runs on two hits and struck out five batters in five innings pitched. Tonight, he will attempt to go five or more innings for his fourth consecutive start.
