1,500 customers without power in Rosemont area
ROSEMONT, Calif. — About 1,500 customers are without power in the Rosemont area of Sacramento County. The Sacramento Municipal Utilities District said the outage was reported just after 6 p.m. The outage is currently impacted 1,553 customers during an extreme heat wave in the area.
2 structures, roughly 8 acres burned in Elk Grove fire
ELK GROVE, Calif. — A fire destroyed two buildings and burned roughly eight acres in Sacramento County Wednesday, according to the Cosumnes Fire Department. The fire started in Elk Grove near Calvine and Bader roads around 3 p.m., according to officials. Once firefighters got on scene eight minutes later, they found the fire threatening structures, vehicles and livestock.
6 injured in head-on crash in Vineyard area of Sacramento County
VINEYARD — Six people were injured in a head-on crash near the Vineyard area of Sacramento County, officials said Wednesday evening.The California Highway Patrol's South Sacramento division said two vehicles collided shortly after 4:30 p.m. at Florin and Elxclesior roads, just south of where Florin intersects with Jackson Highway.Medics with the Sacramento Metropolitan said two of the people were in critical condition while the other four suffered moderate injuries.The cause of the crash was not yet known.
Lost Pet Fees Waived Through July 15th
While fireworks and holiday events are great for humans, the loud noises can be frightening for pets who may flee or run away. In order to quickly reunite scared, stray animals with their owners, Sacramento County’s Bradshaw Animal Shelter is waiving owner redemption fees through July 15, 2024, except for animals in any ongoing investigation, and confiscated or quarantined animals.
