According to Nation's Restaurant News, the family-style Italian restaurant based in Orlando, Florida, Buca di Peppo, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.

The court filing indicates the restaurant chain owes 30 creditors between $15 million and $50 million. The chain has experienced declining sales, higher costs, staffing issues, and "changes in consumer preferences." The chain was also affected by the 2020 pandemic.

The court filing came shortly after previously closing over a dozen locations. The chain still has 44 restaurants in 14 states plus two international locations. Still, it's opening another location. The chain indicates the remaining restaurants will continue to operate and restructure.

Buca di Peppo isn't the only restaurant that had to seek help. Red Lobster is another one.
