    Visit the charming destination of Farmington, Missouri for a long weekend getaway

    Farmington is around 75 miles southwest of St. Louis. It's the county seat of St. Francois County. Farmington is in the Southeast Missouri Lead District, more commonly known as the Lead Belt. According to World Population Review, the population is 18,568.

    When Farmington was established in 1822, it was named Murphy's Settlement after William Murphy, a native of Kentucky. Murphy first visited the site of Farmington in 1798. After St. Francois County was organized, for a bit, the town was called St. Francois Court House and later renamed Farmington maybe as a nod to farmers.

    According to World Atlas, Farmington is one of the 10 most quaint Missouri cities to visit. Here, you'll find several attractions to experience. Importantly, it's rich with history. An important reason to visit Farmington is its well-preserved historic downtown area.

    October 5, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.: The Let's Hang On! The Frank Valli Tribute Show at the Centene Center, sponsored by the City of Farmington and Mineral Area Council of the Arts.
