On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Dolly Parton along with her Imagination Library team will be in Kansas City at 11:00 a.m. She will be part of a hosted event by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

DESE has partnered with Kansas City PBS to livestream this event across Missouri so everyone can share in this event. The live stream can be watched at kansascitypbs.org/dolly, or visit here to register to watch.

What the Imagination Library does is wonderful. This is a free book gifting program involving the mailing of high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from the time they are born until school starts.

Depending on where you live in Missouri, you can check availability in your location. The Imagination Library is available in Jackson and Clay Counties in the Kansas City area, but you can perform a search to see if it's available in your area.

Dolly will be in Kansas City celebrating the success of the Imagination Library in Missouri. She also encourages families to enroll.

Missouri is the 14th state to commit to a statewide Imagination Library program, but no other state has been fully funded, with all children under age five eligible, on the day the statewide program launched. (Source.)

Since its launch in 1995 in Sevier, Tennessee, it has expanded to other countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, and Australia. In 2016, this organization began sending 1 million books a month and by 2022, the figure was at 2 million.

    Thanks for reading and sharing.
