Citizen asks Great Bend council to revisit golf cart ordinance
In a span of six weeks, legalizing golf carts on city streets has been discussed three times at Great Bend City Council meetings. On May 20, the council did not have the minimum of five votes needed to pass a new ordinance. The topic was revisited June 17 with more council members present, but the governing body voted 6-to-1 to deny making golf carts legal on city streets, citing lack of support, safety and extra enforcement for the police department as reasons against the idea.

New features coming soon outside Kansas Wetlands Education Center
The Kansas Wetlands Education Center on K-156 Highway just northeast of Great Bend already provided guests of all ages with information about Cheyenne Bottoms and the surrounding area. KWEC Director Curtis Wolf said even more educational options are on the way with nature-themed musical pieces for kids and a metal-framed kiosk that will help travelers.

The city of Lenexa is looking to get a new public bench through unconventional means — by recycling more than 1,000 pounds of plastic bags.
