Wichita State Men's Basketball Set To Face Some Top Tier Talent Over Thanksgiving
Wichita State men's basketball will spend Thanksgiving participating in the 2024 ESPN Events Invitational at the Walt Disney World Resort, Nov. 28-29. The four-team field features Florida (SEC), Minnesota (Big Ten) and Wake Forest (ACC) and the Shockers out of the American Athletic Conference. The Shockers are making their third appearance in the ESPN Events Invitational and first since 2015.
Madison’s Boomtown Cafe to close, future of Harry C’s Gasoline Alley to be evaluated
One eatery in downtown Madison is closing its doors, and the long-term future of another is unclear. Boomtown Cafe will close after lunch Aug. 2 after 14 months of operation. In a social media post, the restaurant says “we simply are not generating enough sales to support continued operations.” Owners are encouraging people who may be interested in taking over the Boomtown operations to reach out and discuss plans.

Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation launches housing program
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation (HRMF) announces its launch of a housing program that encourages providers to live in the community they serve. At the end of HRMF’s fiscal year, a budget of $750,000 was solidified to support this new program and initiative, which focuses on a three-year commitment from the provider in exchange for a housing incentive to purchase a home in Reno County.

New venture in Topeka aims to help young people gain confidence in social skills
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A new venture in Topeka aims to help young people learn how to be good company. Capitol Cotillion will be held at The Beacon September through April, offering monthly lessons for middle school boys and girls in manners, interpersonal skills, ballroom dance and more.
