Small aircraft competition holds initial Clarion event
The Clarion County Airport hosted its first Appalachian STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) event, drawing around 14 pilots who practiced on Friday under clear skies. Although bad weather on Saturday limited flying time, the event was well-received. Pilots, including some from distant locations like Idaho and Alaska, showcased aircraft optimized for minimal weight and short takeoff and landing distances. The event planners and participants praised the airport’s facilities and the hospitality of the local community. Organizers hope to expand this event, seeing it as a beneficial attraction for the county’s tourism and economy.
