    Clark PD Updates Community on Earlier Gunfire Incident on Stanton St.

    CLARK, NJ — Early Wednesday morning, the Clark Police Department responded to a report of shots fired around 12:30 a.m. at 9 Stanton Street that ultimately resulted in the arrest of a Clark resident.

    The Clark PD provided additional information to the community this evening, confirming the identity of the man as 79-year-old Kenneth Kutyla.

    Kutyla is currently being held in the Union County Jail in Elizabeth on the following charges:

    • Four counts of Attempted Murder 2C;11-3A(1)/2C:5-1A(1), a crime of the first degree.
    • Four counts of Aggravated Assault 2C:12-1B(1), a crime of the second degree.
    • Four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm 2C:12-1B(2), a crime of the third degree.
    • One count of Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose 2C:39-4A(1), a crime of the second degree.

    The Clark Township PD expressed its gratitude to the Union County SWAT Team, the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and the Rahway Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
