May Rainfall Totals for Clayton
National Weather Service Meteorologist Doug Outlaw said May was a wet month in the Clayton area. “The total rainfall for Clayton for May was 7.28 inches of rain. That was above-normal rainfall for the month. There was a good bit of rain in the first few days of May. On the 9th there was 2.84 inches on that one day, so that was significant rainfall. There were other days with big rain, 1.91 on the 28th. With this above-normal rainfall for the month of May, the drought situation has pretty much been whipped out. There are no dry areas anywhere around Northeast Georgia. That has been greatly suppressed, so we are in pretty good shape as far as rainfall for the Rabun County area.” The highest temperature for Clayton in May was 85 on the 23rd and the 27th, and the lowest temperature was 40 on the 12th. Totals may be different where you live, these totals were recorded at the radio stations on North Main Street in Clayton. To learn more about the weather, visit www.weather.gov.
