New little library opens outside courthouse

Nation of Patriots tour stops in Albert Lea

Flooding impacts and repairs for playgrounds in Austin
AUSTIN, Minn. - Seven playgrounds in Austin are currently out of commission due to the recent flooding in the area. Director of Parks, Recreation and Forestry Jason Sehon says, "safety is number one for our park users and so because we don't know the contents of flood waters, we don't know what's been brought into those playground's safety surfaces."

Guest column: Championing health for area’s veterans
I recently attended two poignant veteran ceremonies. On Memorial Day at Albert Lea’s Graceland Cemetery, a moving service took place where all ages attended to pay respect, and our local veterans rendered gunfire salutes to honor the fallen. On June 6, I attended the 80th-anniversary D-Day commemoration at the Normandy American Cemetery to honor my father, surviving veterans and those who sacrificed their lives to defeat Nazism.
