DeKalb County School Board has approved a pilot program that will see five middle schools and five high schools using Yondr pouches to keep students away from their cellphones during the school day. Three other schools will test a locker system as part of the program. Superintendent Dr. Devon Horton tells Atlanta News First its a priority to find ways to engage students and maintain focus in the classroom while still respecting parents’ and students’ desire for phone access. In an effort to find balance, students will have limited access to their phones while in the pouches.

In a statement obtained by NBC Chicago, state fair manager Rebecca Clark expressed excitement about the culinary delights awaiting fairgoers. "From everything fried to everything fresh, it's amazing," Clark said. "It's always fun to see what kind of crazy concoctions our venders are going to come up with." The fair promises a lineup of 17 new vendors, among them Home Run Inn and Potbelly's, as well as a variety of novel treats like Alligator burgers and Korean corn dogs.

UTV Accident In SW Wisconsin Injures Illinois Woman
An Illinois woman suffered minor injuries in an UTV accident in southwest Wisconsin. The Layfayette County Sheriff says the accident happened just after 5 o’clock yesterday on a trail in Willow Springs Township. Authorities say the UTV operated by 64-year old Tammy Johnson of Cambridge, Illinois struck a fence crossing due to poor visibility, and overturned. Johnson was not injured, however a passenger 53-year old Rachel Streeter of Lynn Center, Illinois suffered injuries and was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Darlington for treatment.

Illinois Representatives Sorensen, Durbin, And Duckworth Reveal $25.4 Million Funding For Mass Transit Districts
Illinois Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17), along with U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), have announced that the Rock Island County Metropolitan Mass Transit District (MetroLINK) and the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District will receive a total of $25,415,095 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation. MetroLINK will be awarded $10,000,000, while the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District will receive $14,415,095.

Coach Carr definitely stepped into a situation of a team with a lot of talent. But, he also stepped back to coaching after being away from the sidelines for a while and with the heavy expectations of a talented team. The Lady Indians made the most of their talented group and rolled to a 3rd place finish at the Class 1A State Tournament, bringing home hardware from the state girls basketball tournament for the first time in program history.
