Dartmouth Police arrest two in alleged large-scale retail theft ring across Massachusetts and Rhode Island
Two Massachusetts residents have been arrested by local police for shoplifting, however, it appears they may be involved in something bigger. According to police, on Friday, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Dartmouth Police responded to a call regarding shoplifting at Kohl’s, 81 Faunce Corner Road. The shoplifting in this case is alleged to be connected to a larger organized retail crime group.
Wingstop sets opening date for new Capital Region location
Wingstop, a national chicken wing chain, is soon opening its second location in the Capital Region. The new location, which has a Troy address but is located within the town of Brunswick, is projected to open on Monday, July 29.

United Way Blooming Backpacks collecting donations
GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — United Way’s annual Blooming Backpacks drive is underway with the collection of donated new backpacks filled with school supplies from the community happening now through August 8th when the distribution event is set to be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the John Zon Community Center in Greenfield. This program has provided hundreds of backpacks to Franklin County students since 2005.
Power outages reported in Greenfield Tuesday
GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A number of Greenfield residents experienced power outages Tuesday evening in the area of Silver Street, Lunt Drive, and Green River Road. Witnesses reported power lines down on Country Club Road. Franklin County Now will provide updates when more information on the outage becomes available.
