A local nonprofit and business helped a man in Montgomery County clean up his back and front yards, and he is now living clutter-free! Rebuilding Together Montgomery County works to ensure low-income homeowners, especially older adults, veterans, the disabled, and families with kids live safely and independently.
TaKorean Has Closed A Little More Than a Year After Opening
TaKorean has closed its Kentlands location after a little more than a year at 261 Kentlands Blvd in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood. The Korean taco grill took over the space that was home to Nalley Fresh and opened on May 4, 2023. Permanent signage has already been removed and a note on the window states the following:
Additional Information Regarding Lakeforest Redevelopment Plan
A Joint Work Session between WRS, Inc., the Mayor and City Council, and Planning Commission has been scheduled for Monday, July 8, 2024 at 7:30pm for the redevelopment of Lakeforest. The Joint Work Session will be held in the City Council Chambers at 16 South Summit Avenue. WRS has shared some information regarding questions they’ll be addressing at the work session next week (additional renderings below):

Signage is up at Rising Star studio, located at 18505 N Frederick Ave in the ‘Gaithersburg SC’ shopping center (home of Bruster’s and Floor & Decor). We are told that Rising Star studio is the home of the award-winning Tentacíon dance teams, and the Rising Star Energy Bar. “At Rising Star Studio we offer a variety of dance classes, choreography services for special events (quinceañera, wedding, etc.) and fitness classes as well as nutrition consultations.”
Gaithersburg Council Moves to New Chambers Near City Hall
The Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council announced moving to their new Council Chambers at 16 S. Summit Ave., located across the street from City Hall. The inaugural meeting in the new space, a Mayor and City Council Work Session, will take place on July 8 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
Results from the Montgomery Village 5K Race
The Montgomery Village 5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run on Sunday, June 30, saw one of its largest crowds of both runners and spectators. Lining up to run, 234 runners conquered the 3.2-mile course despite some early morning rain and thick humidity. The course began and ended at Lake Marion Community Center, and the trail spanned around Lake Marion and over to Ed DeSimon Park. Maryland approves $50.3M contract for removal of bridge collapse debris
A Maryland board led by Gov. Wes Moore approved a $50.3 million emergency contract on Wednesday to pay a Swedish construction company that removed debris from the March collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.While the work to remove debris from the federal channel in the Patapsco River was done by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Maryland entered into the emergency contract with Skanska USA Civil Southeast Inc. in April to remove debris from other channels that could then be used by salvage and commercial vessels after the collapse.Skanska was chosen because it had successfully demolished the existing Nice/Middleton...
