Wheeling Symphony Orchestra visits Clarksburg Amphitheater

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra made a stop at the Clarksburg Amphitheater on Saturday evening as part of its “Celebrate America” Fourth of July tour.

The Clarksburg Amphitheatre hosted the orchestra with a free concert open to the public. Music Director of the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, John Devlin, invited guest artist Ben Gulley to join them on the celebratory tour. Gulley, who is an award-winning tenor, performed some Broadway and patriotic classics for those in attendance.

Director of Clarksburg City Parks Doug Comer discussed how important independence, and those who fought for it, is to him.

“We have all these soldiers that have really fought, they’re fighting for our freedom, and you know we wouldn’t be able to have opportunities like this if, if we weren’t in the position we are that America’s in,” Comer said. “So, to me I mean, it’s heartwarming. My dad’s a veteran, my grandfather is a veteran, and so for me to see the fireworks to go up and to hear the music being played…it kind of triggers me on, how I’m free because of people like that.”
