Self-Improving AI Makes 3D-Printing More Efficient
PULLMAN, Wash. – An artificial intelligence algorithm can allow researchers to more efficiently use 3D printing to manufacture intricate structures. The Washington State University study, published in the journal Advanced Materials Technologies, could allow for more seamless use of 3D printing for complex designs in everything from artificial organs to flexible electronics and wearable biosensors. As part of the study, the algorithm learned to identify, and then print, the best versions of kidney and prostate organ models, printing out 60 continually improving versions.
Costco takes steps toward building $22.9 million warehouse
A long-anticipated second Tri-Cities Costco appears to be moving closer toward development. Two building permit applications were filed with the city of Richland for work at 3125 Queensgate Drive with Costco Wholesale listed as the owner. Neither permit has been issued, and a lease for the state land where it would be located has not been finalized.
Yakima Man Returns to Bear Hunting After Cougar Attack
A Yakima man who was almost killed after being charged by a cougar in the Rimrock Lake area last year is back in the forest bear hunting. 25-year-old Tryston Ladwig was bear hunting on an early Saturday morning last year when he suddenly heard a loud roar and saw a cougar charging at him from 10-feet away.
